Brownies
Makes 16 brownies
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Chocolate Frosting:
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons whipping cream
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
Method:
Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
Grease an 8-inch-square pan. In a medium-sized bowl, mix sugar and eggs. In a bowl over hot water, melt chocolate and butter. Blend into egg mixture. Stir in flour, vanilla and nuts. Spread in greased pan.
Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until done but still soft in center; do not overcook. Cool. Prepare Chocolate Frosting. Spread over cooled cake. Cut into 2-inch squares.
To prepare Chocolate Frosting:
In a medium-sized heavy saucepan, combine sugar, egg, cream, chocolate and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir until frosting is of spreading consistency.
