Steak'n Shake Frisco Melt

How to make Steak'n Shake Frisco Melt Recipe -  It seems that patty melts are popping up on the menu everywhere you go these days. This restaurant copycat recipe for Steak'n Shake Frisco Melt is a winner, and one that you can make at home with just a few simple ingredients.

SERVES 4

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 tablespoons Thousand Island dressing
1 pound ground beef
8 slices of bread
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
2 tablespoons diced onions
8 slices American cheese
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 lettuce leaves
4 slices of tomato

Method:
Combine the ketchup and salad dressing. Set aside.

Form ground beef into 8 thin patties. Fry or grill the burgers until cooked as desired. Set aside.

Lightly toast all 8 slices of bread.

To a skillet, add ½ tablespoon of margarine, and cook the onions for 2–3 minutes until softened. Remove the onions and set aside.

Layer as follows from bottom to top: bread, American cheese, burger, Swiss cheese, burger, American cheese, onions, salad dressing, and bread.

Place sandwich in skillet and toast 1–2 minutes on each side to melt the cheeses.

Serve with a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice
