Orange Julius
SERVES 1
Ingredients:
6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup water
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 ice cubes
Method:
Combine all the ingredients except the ice cubes in a blender.
Blend 1–2 minutes.
Add ice cubes one at a time, until smooth.
Notes:
The Orange Julius grew out of a California orange juice stand in the late 1920s. The stand was run by a man named Julius Freed, and the creamy texture of the drink recipe was developed to make the acid in the orange juice less bothersome to the stomach.
