Applebee's Blondie Brownies

How to make Applebee's Blondie Brownies recipe - Everyone has a sweet tooth, and nothing is better than a warm brownie with ice cream.

SERVES 12

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch baking soda
Pinch salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
11/3 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ cup vanilla baking chips
¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup maple syrup
1 (8-ounce) package softened cream cheese
½ teaspoon maple extract

Method:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the nuts. Set aside.

Use an electric mixer to beat together the butter and 1 cup brown sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.

Slowly beat dry mixture in to wet mixture. Stir in vanilla baking chips by hand.

Spread batter into a greased 9" × 9" × 2" baking pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Set aside to cool.

In a saucepan over low heat, melt ¼ cup butter and maple syrup. Stir remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar into saucepan until it has dissolved.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and beat in cream cheese and maple extract until smooth. Return saucepan to low heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until the consistency of peanut butter and then spread the mixture over the top of the cooled brownies.
