A&W Coney Island Sauce
YIELDS 25 CUPS
Ingredients:
5 pounds hamburger
2 small onions, finely chopped
64 ounces Hunt's Tomato Paste
64 ounces Hunt's Tomato Purée
1½ cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon celery seed
3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon salt
Method:
Brown the hamburger and onions in a large skillet. Drain the excess oil.
Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 3½ hours.
Stir frequently so that the sauce will not stick to the pan.
