How to make Never Fail Fudge Recipe - This semisoft candy was first made in New England women's colleges. The word "fudge" had been used to mean to hoax or cheat and this candy was often cooked up by the girls on the night before examinations when they should have been studying.
Makes 5 pounds
Ingredients:
1/3 cup butter
4-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 cups or 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk, undiluted
1 tup marshmallow cream
1 (12-ounce) package milk-chocolate pieces
1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped
Method:
Grease a 13" x 9" baking pan. In a large saucepan, combine butter, sugar and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil; boil 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients except nuts. Beat well until smooth. Stir in nuts. Spoon into greased pan. Cool until firm. Cut into squares.
