Basic Boiled Rice

How to make Basic Boiled Rice Recipe - Firm, fluffy, freshly prepared boiled rice is an essential accompaniment for gumbos, bean dishes, bisques, étouffées, and many other dishes.

4 SERVINGS

Ingredients:
1 cup Long-grain rice
2 cups Water, cold
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Butter

Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a heavy 3-quart (3 l) saucepan with a tight-fitting cover and bring to a boil over high heat.

Stir once with a fork, then cover tightly and reduce the heat to very low. Cook, covered, for 15 minutes. Do not lift the cover during the cooking.

Remove pot from heat, let stand (covered) 5 to 10 minutes longer. Uncover, and fluff the rice gently with a fork.
